About this Training

This training is intended as supplemental instruction for clinicians interested in adapting tabletop role playing games for use in individual therapy. The instruction will primarily address the process integrating RPG’s into weekly sessions with a client, as well as identifying rewards and potential pitfalls of this application. We will emphasize these notions in the context of several case examples where Dungeons and Dragons, 5E was used. Please note, this training assumes participants have undergone prior instruction regarding TTRPG’s and their applied use in group settings.

Patrick Weaver is a Licensed Professional Counselor who enjoys working with “challenging” kids and teens, as well as their families, to resolve difficult behavioral problems at home and school. Since graduating from Dallas Baptist University with a Masters degree in Counseling, he has worked primarily with children and adolescents involved with Juvenile Justice and DFPS. He conducts testing for various issues and provides counseling for individuals, couples, and families. In his free time, he mulls over witty comebacks that came too late.
